South Malling CE Primary

PE & Sport

South Malling Primary School recognises the vital contribution of physical education to a child’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional development as well as the role it can play in a child’s spiritual, moral and cultural development. We believe that the physical curriculum should lead to a sense of well-being, a greater understanding of health and fitness, a healthy lifestyle and a feeling of self-confidence.

RealPE is a unique, child-centred approach, which transforms how we teach PE to engage and challenge every child; giving every child the physical literacy, emotional and thinking skills to achieve in PE, Sport and life. Through high-quality teaching, and a well-balanced programme of activities, all children are given the opportunity to discover, enjoy and personally develop within the physical curriculum.

Alongside this, children and staff take part in the Daily Mile, with children running or jogging – at their own pace – in the fresh air with friends for 15 minutes every day.

We also offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and take part in a range of local school leagues and tournaments, including football, netball, athletics and cross country.
